Who needs insurance? Of course, everyone does and Costa Ricans are of no exemption. In this Latin American country, you need to avail of insurance packages from state-owned companies. These are INS (Instituto Nacional de Seguros) or Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS). However, this particular requirement may not be the case very soon. In the next few years, the insurance market in the country will now be open for competition. This was made possible after the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) had been implemented.
