| Where’s the best place to stay and live in Costa Rica? |
Where’s the best place to stay and live in Costa Rica? There are three major things that you probably should consider. These are Costa Rica’s climate, prices and infrastructure.• Costa Rican climate: Did you know that this country has twenty-seven different weather patterns? It’s true. The location of Costa Rica is somewhere around ten degrees north of the equator. This means that expect the temperatures to be from moderate to very high especially on days when there are no clouds in the sky. Having this kind of temperature makes you want to hit the beach immediately to cool off. That’s definitely a great idea considering that Costa Rica is famous for its world-class beaches. However, this may not be the case for you all the time. It is recommended therefore that you invest on air conditioning in order to fight off the heat while you are resting in your house, condo or apartment. If you are located near or within the Central Valley, the heat may be lesser although it still average within 70 to 80 degrees. Day temperatures usually go within that range while at night the temperature is between 45 to 65 degrees. As for the mountainous areas, the temperatures are mostly cooler than the aforementioned ones. Although, rain can be more frequent than usual in these areas. It’s pretty much your choice where to live here in Costa Rica. • Prices of real estate The prices of real estate are soaring in areas that are considered premium especially near the beachfront. Both foreign and local residents are all haggling for a better location along the coast. Newly constructed condos and apartments in the city proper are also expensive, although the prices are considered to be reasonable. Properties in San Jose are understandably high since it is in the bustling city area. Although, you do have the option to buy properties outside the city (about 30 minutes away) and get prices at half-off. Some people would advise you to hold off for a while in terms of purchasing a property. You can actually spend up to a year in just renting an apartment and condo and just have the time to tour the country and see for yourself what real estate properties look attractive. After that time period passes by, you will now have an informed decision. • Infrastructure Infrastructure situation in Costa Rica is at par with other developing nations so you really won’t be encountering a lot of problems when it comes to availing the basic services such as health services (hospitals) and others. If you do want to be always near a health facility, then it would be recommendable for you to get a property in the city proper. In that way, you can always go to the nearest hospital. There are other great things you can do if you live in the city proper. It’s faster to meet new friends since you can always go to the nearest clubs or bars or the city malls as well. There are a lot of things you can do in Costa Rica’s capital city. You can always go to museums and theaters and maybe get to know a little better the country’s culture. A number of residents in the city proper know how to speak the English language so you won’t have a problem communicating with them. This may be a great opportunity for you as well to learn the Spanish language! If you are going to spend the rest of your life here in Costa Rica, you might as well learn their first language. Another great thing about living in the city proper is the existence of modern technological services such as phone lines, internet connections and many more. If you are an internet-savvy person, then you will definitely be happier living in the city. If you live in far flung areas, there’s a likely possibility that you will be bored for a few weeks and will eventually go back to the city. If you happen to live in a condominium, it would be a great idea to get to know your neighbors so that you will have someone friendly to talk to during humdrum afternoons. It really depends on your lifestyle. That’s where you base your decision when it comes to choosing the right place in Costa Rica. |
