San Jose is now a city with bustling and lively commerce. Its stores, buildings, and shop speak of Costa Rica’s rich heritage of architecture and art. What can one expect see when in San Jose? One, tourists will be happy to see the view of the Poás, Irazú, and Barva mountain ranges. Aside from the picturesque, the details of the city also bring smiles to travelers. Basically all of the buildings on the city are new, since none of then go beyond 150 years old. Sections of the city are divided by avenidas and Calles.
Landmarks that feature the rich architectural heritage of Costa Rice include the National Theatre, the Central Bank, the Sabana Park old airport, the Mercedes building, the post office building, and the Social Security building. If you find your way on the northern part of San Jose, you will see the Parque Bolívar, a modern zoo that houses some of the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica, and the Gold Museum of the Central Bank. Major Banks, museums, supermarkets, and shopping malls make up the heart of the city. Another part of San Jose frequently visited by tourists is the Paseo Colón. The famous street can be reached if one goes straight the Central Avenue. Don’t worry, tourists and travel guides abound within this area so there no need to be afraid of being lost. Here you will see the Hospital San Juán de Diós, plentiful of local shops, upscale restaurants, hotels, and car rental shops.
The Centro Colón in San Jose City, a high rise office and commercial plaza is located right beside the Sabana Park.
