When visiting Costa Rica, one has to see and stop by the Corcovado National Park. After the Corcovado National Park, you need to see the Tortuguero National Park next. The name of this park literally means “Full of Turtles". It is known internationally for its yearly nesting of green turtles and many rare endangered species of birds and a number of reptiles. Aside from the endangered green turtle, one can also see loggerhead turtles, giant leatherback turtles, and hawksbill.

If you are looking for plants, then the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a must see for you. It is the home of more than 2,000 plant species. Aside from this, over hundreds of bird species and mammals can be found here. In total, the Country of Costa Rica is home to more than eight hundred species of birds. The Republic of Costa Rica boasts of a lot of beautiful, extensive, and preserved national parks. Because of this, Costa Rica currently ranks 24th in the world’s most visited spots for ecotourism.

And since we are talking about ecotourism, we need to include the beautiful animal and plant life that the Costa Rica can offer. More than national parks and rich beautiful greens, the Country of Costa Rica is the home a very rich array of animals and plants. Statistically speaking, in spite of its relatively small land area, occupying a small area equal to 0.1% of the total world's landmass, the country of Costa Rica contains an estimated 5% of the world’s total biodiversity. This means that as compared to most countries that feature ecotourism, tourists and travelers can see more plants and animals by visiting Costa Rica. The country takes pride of its title as one of the countries that offers to the worlds the best ecotourism. Of the countries total land area, approximately 27% of it is composed of protected forests and well preserved national parks. This makes Costa Rica the country with the world’s largest percentage of protected land areas and well preserved parks.
