Boquete

Boquete, also known as the city of the eternal spring or city of flowers and coffee.
It was founded on April 11 of 1911. The first inhabitants were from other districts, so much as emigrants from Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Sweden, Germany, and North America. For the above mentioned reasons, the properties, farms and houses in this region, reflect designs of architectual style planned in the figure of these countries. The cultivación of flowers, coffee, fruits and a great variety of flowers are the principal resources of work for the inhabitants of this region. As coffee producers Boquete occupies the first place and the quality the grain is the best in the whole republic. Its mountains areinhabited by an indigenous group called Gnobe Buglé better known as Guaymíes that work at the coffee plantations they are also known by their beautiful and colorful Handcrafted works such as chaquiras, chácaras, and the Nahua, which is the women native dress.

In this Beautiful City you can enjoy different tours with first class touristic attractions; climbing the Barú volcano is an exciting adventure, once at the top you will be able to observe the fascinating and cloudy characteristic of the tropical forest and the panoramic view of the sea. The Barú volcano is the highest point of the republic of Panama.
The observation of birds is one of the major attractions that Boquete offers. The quetzales are considering birds of extreme beauty and they can be easily observed nesting in this Paradise.
Boquete is only at 46 kms from David. From the Panamerican highway coming from Panama, you take a right turn where the new shopping center “El Terronal” is located (“Supermercado El Rey”, “Farmacias Arrocha”, etc.). Right in front is also the traditional supermarket from Chiriqui, “Super Baru”. The road is in perfect state and the landscape makes it a very pleasant trip. Before you get to downtown Boquete, you will find a lookout to the right, where you will be able to appreciate the gorgeous valley with the Caldera river in the middle. A “CEFATI” or tourism information center is located here. If you wish to stay here, there are plenty of alternatives and most relatively economycal. Here you can find a double room for B/.20.00 to B/.80.00 depending on the place.

A great number of good hotels are available in Boquete that offer all sorts of facilities and entertainment to the guests. One of them is Hotel Los Establos, which gives beautiful views of the Baru volcano situated at the west of Boquete. It is spread in a big area of a coffee plantation and offers all kinds of luxury amenities to its guests. The area has a South and Central American kind of décor and it only allows guests over the age of 14 years to maintain the privacy of other guests.

Another good place here is La Montaña y el Valle, which is situated in the lush forests of Boquete and coffee plants. It offers private bungalows to the guests that give beautiful views of the Panama sunset, clouds of vegetations and the volcano. Some other facilities include candle lit dinners and the sweet sounds coming from the forest close by.

Isla Verde is one good place to stay when visiting Boquete. It gives the feel of a quiet and away from town place but actually it is just a quick, five minute walk from the town. There is a river running next to the garden at this gorgeous hotel and the view from nearly every angle is just beautiful! Panamonte Inn and Spa is another one place in Boquete that was built more than 100 years ago. It has a lot beautiful gardens with orchids and lots of orange trees that add more beauty to the place. The food served here is of European style and they also plan river rafting, canopy rides, trekking, bird watching, and private visits to coffee farms or sightseeing tours for the guests. After these tours, there is a provision for relaxing by getting massages and using the facilities of the spa.
