How to hook up your utilities services

In Panama is very easy to obtain Light water and Phone Services, there is only one main Telephone services Provider Company Named Cable & Wireless (C&W), 51% of their shares belong to Panama Government, there are other Telephone Service Company options with companies that operate under CWP Approval and Regulations, such as, Tele Carrier, Clarocomm, Movistar and others.
To apply for a Telephone line you must go to CWP Main building Located in Via España Banking Area, beside the Panama National Bank (Tel, (507)-224-2123), you will need to carry a light or water bill receipt, and a copy of your personal ID, a customer service representative will assist you in filling out the service contract.
You will be assigned a Telephone Line to make and receive calls from any part of the world. They offer different Residential plans, business Plans, Internet plans, and Cell phone plans to fit your necessities, all based in rates per minute. A Technical Support Representative will be visiting your residence 3 business days after you submit the Telephone line request to activate the line. There are different places to make your monthly payments, CWP has various Telemark Agencies located along the country to benefit their users, and you will also have the option to make your payments at Payment centers located in various Supermarkets and Banks of the country. You must carry the following Documentation:
Residential Services (natural person):
- Electricity meter system according to norms and regulations.
- Copy of personal ID or passport in the case of foreigners.
- Copy of Public Registry Certification, Lease Contract or domicile Certificate Issued by competent authorities, which credits legal possession of the building.
- Permission of occupation issued by the municipality or the Fire Department, for new not new Buildings.
- Deposit the guarantee of consumption equivalent to a month of estimated consumption
- Pay the connection fee according to your Tariff.
- If the owner of the property is not available to assist, the Pearson who will be making the paperwork must carry a Power of Attorney with a copy of His Personal ID and Owner’s personal ID also.

It will take 3 to 10 business days to install your electricity meter, depending on the current regulation, on the density classification of the area where you live and if it is needed or not to make modifications in your Building before the network is installed.

IDAAN (Institute of Aqueducts and National Sewers ) is the only Potable water service Provider in the Republic of Panama; The Main Building is located in Via Brasil with the following schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 am- 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am- 12:00 pm. To Apply for Potable water services, you must carry the following documentation:

Residential Services (natural person):
- Copy of Public Registry Certification, Lease Contract or domicile Certificate Issued by competent authorities, or letter issued by Government Institutions (MIVI, BHN, etc) which credits legal possession of the building.
- Notarized Authorization Letter, issued by the owner (when is related to an emissary).
- Copy of Personal ID, connection Rights and cost of installing the meter
Note: In buildings that do not possess the individual connections, only one Contract will be subscribed.
Constructions
- Copy of Public Registry Certification.
- Notarized Authorization Letter, issued by the owner (when is related to contractors).
- Isometric and architectonic Property Lines of the building to be construct, Municipality Permission to construct the Building.
- Name of the contractor responsible of making the new connection.
- Pay: Connection rights, cost of installing the meter, Cost of perforating the principal water line, guaranty down payments.
Companies
Additional to a Natural Person Requirements, Companies must present the Social Pact with the following Information:
- --Company Name.
- --Company R.V.C. Number
- Property Legal Representative Number.
- Legal Representative ID Number.
- --Complete Address and Telephone Number.
