It has an area of 234km2, the second largest island in Panama. This rectangular-shaped island with a tip projecting south is located southeast of the archipelago. The town of San Miguel is the capital of the Balboa district and the most populous city of the archipelago. Also on this island are other towns such as Ensenada, La Guinea and La Esmeralda. Isla del Rey also has the largest number of inhabitants of all the islands around the Pearl with 2,000 people.

To the north it borders with National Lands occupied by Panama Choice Corp.

To the south it borders property owned by Grupo Empresarial de Panamá and Concha Futura, S.A.
